"Since our creation in 1958, we've sought to solve the many challenges of space, aviation and exploration through innovation, invention and engineering solutions," wrote Jason Townsend, a NASA web producer, in a Tuesday blog post. "We've met these challenges head-on by the hundreds, if not thousands. And now we've created a new way to explore each and every one of NASA's Spinoffs -- or innovations created for our nation's space program now in use in your everyday lives."

Townsend said additional apps for the Android, iPhone, and iPad are in the works.
